Hamatora Episode 12- The Final Word

I don’t even who what to think about the ending of Hamatora. It’s so out there and I really didn’t understand it. Well here’s the overview if you want the quick rundown. Nice and Moral fight a silly fight, nice wins then Art shows up out of nowhere to kill them both. The end.

Series Rating based on Blog: 6.125

Series Rating based on Overall thoughts: 5/10

hamatora51

So episode starts with Hajime going all she-hulk on us because she hasn’t eaten? Don’t eat and you get a super Hajime, at least I understand why she was eating the whole series now.  Moral’s assistant was best this episode using the robots she made to hurt people in the city so they will feel weak. All part of Moral’s plan to make everyone equal and to do that he needs them to want power for themselves. Nice and Murasaki go to stop Moral before it gets any worst. Moral has gotten the type 0 minimum from the cops and now has two minimums. Nice and Moral start their fight but they stop randomly to point out how sick Moral is and how big his plan is. Felt it a waste of time in the episode since we know Moral was sick in the head. The type 0 minimum is the 10 meter minimum aka he can teleport anywhere within 10 meters of himself.  So it’s a fight of types of speed, Nightcrawler vs Flash. I get that the writer(s) wanted to add some drama in the fight which is okay but I really hated they tried to add humor in the middle of the fight. All the cell phone text messages and nice throwing it into the ocean was just stupid in my eyes. Yes it points out the Nice isn’t a “nice” guy overall that he does whatever he feels like and doesn’t care what really happens in the world around him.

hamatora50

Nice is able to speed up to be able to go faster than teleporting somehow. Moral ends up weakened because having two minimums is a no-no. Art then shows up out of nowhere and shoots Moral within 10 seconds of scene time and then shoots and kills Art from the sounds of the last few seconds. Art must have a minimum that keeps he from dying that or it wasn’t really Art in the last scene. We know Moral had the minimum to change looks, so someone could have it too? Either way the series ends on a confusing note and doesn’t help my outlook on it.

hamatora49

Show started out good in the first few episodes and was doing good to keep me entertained. The middle episodes like 4-9 was the biggest weakest to Hamatora as it dragged out plot elements and the lack of character backgrounds made it really hard to care for the team. This got better later in the series I feel but it was almost too late by then as my mind had been made up. Nice was to be this super guy at the top of his rank and has the greatest minimum but he never came off that way to me. Best character for me was Beast and Three. On the Hamatora twitter they said they working on a second season but I’d say that’s hopeful. I’d be okay with an OVA to clear up some plot points but not really a second season. There’s better anime that should be their seasons over this I say.

Overall Hamatora tried to put mystery and superpowers together but couldn’t get all the pieces to work together.  So in the end it’s just average to me, I had more fun watching Wizard Barristers which had a lot of the same elements in that show this winter.

Weekly Ratings (Week 12)

Exciting times! A busy next two weeks for bloggers and for anime in general. Winter season shows are about 60% completed with the last 40% finishing up this coming week. Have spring shows starting on Sunday so you can look forward to them and my last-minute previews of them. I’ll be doing group first impressions like a did for the winter, even have my top lists for the ending winter season up in the next week or two. I’ll add a new page so you all can easily find them down the road. 🙂

For next season I’m changing how I’ll be doing the weekly ratings, I’ll use a moving list to rate the episodes each week. If you have ever read Angryjellyfish’s blog he uses something like this which I enjoy a lot as a reader. I’ll still have the ratings like I did this season but I’ll just add a Hyperlink at the bottom of the post(s) that will link you to the excel file if you want to see MAL ratings week to week. On the topic of episodics I’ll add one at the start of the season so we don’t just have Nisekoi for a while. Not 100% sure yet but I’m thinking Black_Bullet or Captain Earth then I’ll pick up M3 when it starts 4/21.

Well been an okay season overall I think, not the best winter season but better than most of the winter seasons. Seems that winter anime seasons are the weakest out of all the seasons. Not really surprised that Chuunibyou demo dropped 450ish places in the ratings from what I heard in the blogging world and from people watching the show. The 200 rise in the ratings of D-Frag was a nice surprise. Really didn’t think the last episode was that good but the show had a good presence all season.  Hamatora which I haven’t posted about yet but didn’t do good at all for its last episode. Almost as bad as the Mahou Sensou ending, the show dropped a crazy 1300 places in the ratings. Biggest drop or rise of the season in one week.

Did have a good number of nice solid endings though, Pupipo which was haven’t problems in the middle of the season ended as best it could. Underrated Wake up girls ended strong I feel and I’d be okay with seeing more of that show. Space dandy ended just as random as it started but I’m looking forward to the second season that is coming. Kill la kill was the big mover for the fall continues which makes sense base on the crazy number of people watching it.

This week should be an easy week since most shows not airing as we wait for everything to end.

Spring Season 2014 Preview! Part 1 of 2

Only 11 more days till the start of the spring season! With the winter season wrapping up in the next week it’s time to look forward. Spring has a little over 45 new shows that start airing in the next three weeks which is bigger than the current winter season. Going to be a big season for Sports and Mecha it seems. Multiple BONES and I.G. production shows and even more than one Brains Base also. I’ll cover and preview each show but not covering the ovas and movies since its hit and miss when I watch those if so. Shows listed by airing date. (Edit:Posting the last 10 shows later this week)

Majin Bone

Date: April 1st

Studio: Toei (One piece, Air Gear, Sailor Moon)

PV / MAL

Genre: Game / Episodes: TBA

Staff: Uda, Konosuke  (One piece)

An anime adaptation of Bandai’s digital card game “Majin Bone”. One of the many kid focused shows for next season. First thought this be worst than Z/X Ignition but after watching the PV I have higher hopes for this. Nothing out of the norm but could be enjoyable.

Excitement Level: 3/10

Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers

Date: April 2nd

Studio: Toei (One piece, Sailor Moon)

MAL

Genre: Kids, Action

Episodes: TBA

Staff: —-

The story will revolve around how the Avengers–Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Hulk together with the help of Spider-Man and a group of teens–will harness their respective fighting skills and superhuman powers to foil Loki’s scheme to take over the world.  A Marvel series in Japan took me off guard at first. They normally don’t use a lot of American based heroes on primetime tv. I don’t really see this series adding anything new to the Avengers and the staff doesn’t look that good to me. A mix bag of talent used to sell a product to kids, a lot like Gundam Build Fighters but way worst. If your a huge fan of Avengers I’m guessing you will be watching this, if not eh I’d skip it.

Excitement Level: 1/10

Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san

Date: April 4th

Genre: Comedy, Yuri

Studio: Seven (Strange+, Metal Fight Beyblade)

MAL / PV

Episodes:12

Staff: Touyama, Nao (Chitoge-Nisekoi/ Mui- Mahou Sensou)

The story revolves around Nekoyama Suzu, a timid, shy tsundere girl loves dogs, and Inugami Yachiyo, a super masochistic, air-headed, friendly girl who loves cats. One day, after a fateful meeting, the two find themselves attracted to each other. A short yuri, nice to see more yuri nowadays to mix it up. Not sure if a 5 min yuri is going to worth watching but we do get to hear more of Chitoge’s voice which isn’t a bad thing at all. Check it out but don’t hope for much since Seven hasn’t done really anything and Strange+ wasn’t any good from the winter season.

Excitement Level: 4/10

Blade & Soul

Date: April 4th

Studio: Gonzo (Full Metal Panic, Saki, Black Cat)

Genre: Fantasy

Episodes: TBA

MAL / PV

Staff: Tomioka, Atsuhiro , Hamasaki, Hiroshi

An anime adaptation of the Korean MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) Blade and Soul. Gonzo has made some good stuff in the past but have been hit and miss lately for me. Blade and Soul looks like it will have some great looking fight animations but I’m worried about the plot/story. Blade may get some early views but see this series overlooked by the big hyped series in the spring season once they start up.

Excitement Level: 5/10

Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou

Date: April 4th

Studio: Brains Base (Baccano!, D-Frag!, Blood Lad)

Genre: Comedy, Romance

Episodes: TBA

MAL / PV

Staff: Hanazawa, Kana

Usa, a high-school student aspiring to begin a bachelor lifestyle, moves into a new apartment only to discover that he not only shares a room with a perverted roommate that has an obsession for underaged girls, but also that another girl, Ritsu, a love-at-first-sight, is living in the same building as well! Plot pretty straight forward so this going to be a so-so series or it will just fail. Lucky Brains Base have been pretty good for us in the last two years. Nothing notable in the staff really so I have a low bar for this one.

Excitement Level: 3/10

Akuma no Riddle

Date: April 4th

Studio: Diomedea (Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru)

Genre: Action, Yuri

Episodes: 13

MAL / PV

Staff: Kusakawa, Keizo

The story is set at Myoujou Academy, a private girls’ boarding school. The 10th year’s Kurogumi class has 12 assassins with their sights on one target, Haru Ichinose. Tokaku Azuma is a recent transfer student who is also targeting Ichinose, but she gradually develops feelings for Ichinose. Not sure what I think about Akuma no Riddle. Assassin falls for the target and ends up protecting her from the others. I like the idea but not sure how its going to come off when viewing. I get a feel of future diary and Judge from the PV thinking it’s not going to be a thriller based show. Riddle of the Devil is a wildcard of the spring season which could surprise us.

Excitement Level: 7/10

Selector Infected WIXOSS

Date: April 4th

Studio: J.C. Staff (Bakuman, Golden Time, Little Busters)

Genre: Game, Psychological

Episodes: TBA

MAL / PV

Staff: Satou, TakuyaMari Okada

Hope, desire, greed.
Girls with each of these feelings in their hearts are being swallowed into the vortex of a dangerous game… Takuya and Mari both working in the same series? This I’ll have to check out. Takuya has some good experience from Stains gate and you never know that will happen with Mari near a script. Should be a enjoyable thriller even if I know nothing about the plot.

Excitement Level: 8/10

Mushishi Zoku Shou

Date: April 5th

Studio: Artland (Hitman Reborn, Mushishi)

Genre: Adventure, Mystery, Fantasy

Episodes: TBA

MAL / PV

Staff: Nagahama, Hiroshi , Umakoshi, Yoshihiko , Tanaka, Kazuya

Mushishi is really good. Most of the 2003 staff is back for this which is a huge win. This one show makes the spring lineup look much better and this is a must watch. Would be really hard to fuck this up.

Excitement Level: 9/10

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Stardust Crusaders

Date: April 5th

Studio: David Production (JoJo Bizarre Adventure)

Genre: Action, Adventure

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff:Tsuda, NaokatsuKobayashi, Yasuko

In a Japanese jail sits 17-year-old Jotaro Kujo: punk, fighter, delinquent…and possessed by a force beyond his control! Around the world, evil spirits are awakening: “Stands,” monstrous invisible creatures which give their bearers incredible powers. To save his mother’s life, Jotaro must tame his dark forces and travel around the world to Cairo, Egypt, where a hundred-year-old vampire thirsts for the blood of his family. Well JoJo has some big hype behide it after the first season did so well and got some crazy reviews from the blogging world. If you haven’t seen JoJo’s first season you will have to watch it before this or you could be a little lost. Same team working on this season as the first which is a good sign. From what I hear, Stardust Crusaders is one of the better arcs from the manga so I got high hopes.

Excitement Level: 8/10

Captain Earth

Date: April 5th

Studio: Bones (Noragami, FMA:B, Darker than Black)

Genre: Action, Mecha

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Igarashi, TakuyaEnokido, Yoji

One night right before summer vacation, Daichi Manatsu, a second-year in high school, sees a weird round rainbow floating in the sky above Seed Island (Shuushi/Tane Island) and ventures there alone. He has seen this rainbow before. With the memories of his father’s mysterious death and an encounter of a mysterious boy and girl, Daiji arrives on the island while the alarm of a building labeled “Earth Engine” is going off. Someone asks him “Are you a captain?” just as robotic intruders from Uranus called “Kiltgang” arrive. The battle around the shining stars is about to begin. Anime Original mecha, Captain Earth. Bones has been doing very good lately, though I’m not sure about Captain Earth yet. The whole story seems so plain to me. I never saw Star Driver so I don’t really know what to expect from the writing and character development. At least Captain Earth will look good and have a great opening song. (Love Ai Kayano)

Excitement Level: 7/10

Abarenbou Kishi!! Matsutarou

Date: April 5th

Studio: Toei (One Piece, Sailor Moon)

Genre: Sports

MAL

Episodes: TBA

Matsutarou Sakaguchi is a giant roughneck man with strength far beyond ordinary people. He never uttered words like “work hard,” “strive,” and “dream” like the typical shounen manga protagonist. However, he is stronger than anyone and peerless in sumo wrestling. His greatest weakness is his own carefree personality. He grows into a full-fledged sumo wrestler. Sumo anime? Hmm, think I’ll skip this one for one of the better sport animes in the spring season.

Excitement Level: 1/10

Fairy Tail (2014)

Date: April 5th

Studio: A-1 Pictures (Fairy Tail, Gin no Saji, Kuroshitsuji)

Genre: Action, Fantasy, Comedy, Adventure

MAL / PV

Episodes:TBA

Continuing of Fairy Tail when they left off. I’m glad the show is back, the anime was catching up with the manga and to keep from pulling a Bleach they stopped. The coming arcs are awesome and Fairy Tail should stay in my top 30 for a while longer.

Excitement Level: 10/10

Baby Steps

Date: April 5th

Studio: Studio Pierrot (Bleach, Hikaru no Go)

Genre: Sports, Romance

MAL

Episodes: 25

Staff: Murata, Masahiko

Maruo Eiitirou (E-Chan), a first year honor student, one day decides he’s unhappy with the way things are and lacks exercise. He finds a flyer for the Tennis Club and decides to check it out. He’s instantly captivated by it.
With no prior experience and poor physical conditioning, join E-Chan as he embarks on a tennis journey using his smarts, dedication, and work ethic. Tennis and Romance! I’m surprised at the romance tag from the mal page, I’ve never read Baby Steps though I’ve heard good things about it. Its going to be compared to Prince of Tennis no matter what, it just has to stand its ground and make a place for itself. I’m really looking forward to this show a lot and betting it will be one of the top 5 shows of spring.

Excitement Level: 10/10

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo Returns

Date: April 5th

Studio: Toei (One Piece, Sailor Moon)

Genre: Mystery

MAL

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Matsuno, Taiki

Good old Mystery to round out the spring. Should get some cool cases but will never beat Conan in my heart.

Excitement Level: 5/10

Kenzen Robo Daimidaler

Date: April 5th

Studio: TNK (High School DxD)

Genre: Comedy, Mecha

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Yanagisawa, Tetsuya

The comedy centers around a high school boy named Madanbashi Kouichi who has Hi-ERo particles, the power source to operate the robotic weapon Daimidaler.
With the help of Sonan Kyouko from the mysterious Prince Beauty Parlor organization, he stands up against the Penguin Empire that troubles humanity. God this anime should be interesting if anything. A comedy mecha where they are fighting Penguins…. lol Got laughs from me and it isn’t even out yet.

Excitement Level: 6/10

Seikoku no Dragonar

Date: April 5th

Studio: C-Station

Genre: Ecchi, Fantasy

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Tada, Shunsuke

Learning to ride and tame dragons comes easy to most students at Ansarivan Dragonar Academy—except for first-year student Ash Blake, who is known by his fellow classmates as the “number one problem child.” Poor Ash is the laughing stock at school because, despite his unfashionably large star-shaped brand that marks him as a future dragon master, he has nothing to show for it. His dragon has never appeared.
Until now, that is. One fateful day, Ash’s dragon awakes in full glory, but appears different than any dragon ever seen before—in the form of a beautiful girl! What’s worse, Ash soon discovers that this new dragon has attitude to spare, as she promptly informs him that she is the master, and he, the servant. The main ecchi of the season, the dragon theme is a little different and could be interesting. Haven’t fallen for it yet but I’ll check it out and see how it goes.
Excitement Level: 6/10

Isshuukan Friends

Date: April 6th

Studio: Brains Base (Baccano!, D-Frag!, Blood Lad)

Genre: School

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Iwasaki, TarouSuga, Shoutarou

Kaori Fujimiya is always alone because all of her happy memories, including time spent with her friends, disappear every Monday. Deciding that he wants to be friends with her anyway, Yuuki Hase tries to get close to Kaori each week, wishing that she would one day call him “a friend.” Get the kleenex box out and ready for this anime. Just thinking about the plot makes me sad. I’m just asking to cry when I watch this. Though this very well could be the next clannad, watch this!

Excitement Level: 10/10

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei

Date: April 6th

Studio: Madhouse (Hunter x Hunter)

Genre: Magic, Romance, School

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Ono, ManabuMotoyama, Satoshi

Magic is a product of neither legends nor fairy tales, but instead has become a technology of reality since a time unknown to people. Supernatural power became a technology systematized through magic, while magic became a technical skill. A “Supernatural Power User” became a “Magic Technician.” Magic Technicians (in short, Magicians) are nurtured through Magic High Schools and Universities. Madhouse has been dropping the ball lately I feel and don’t think its going to get any better with this show. I’m not a big fan of magic school series. Also don’t think Madhouse as done very well at all with romance in its shows as of late. I’ll be skipping this one.

Excitement Level: 3/10

Kamigami no Asobi

Date: April 6th

Studio: Brains Base (Baccano!, D-Frag!, Blood Lad)

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Harem

MAL / PV

Episodes:12

Staff: Irino, MiyuOno, DaisukeMorikawa, ToshiyukiKamiya, Hiroshi

The story revolves around Kusanagi Yui, who is ordered by Zeus, a god and the headmaster of a school he created, to teach the meaning of love to young and handsome gods. The reason he has for doing this is to cancel the negative effects of the weakening bond between the world of the divine and the world of the humans. Brain Base has a secret winner here, a cast of great actors for the mains. Story is a normal Harem with a twist, its not all girls but guys. Surprised this series didn’t get the comedy tag since most harem style anime have a good focus on that.

Excitement Level: 8/10

La Corda D’Oro Blue Sky

Date: April 6th

Studio: TYO Animations (Tamayura: Hitotose)

Genre: Music, Romance

Episodes:TBA

MAL

Twelve handsome boys and one girl spend a summer giving everything they’ve got to win a music competition. This is a story of youth and music. And dare we say, love? Eh a music anime. Not my thing but I’ll try not to drop it.

Excitement Level: 1/10

Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii

Date: April 6th

Studio: Studio Pierrot (Bleach, Hikaru no Go)

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Kamegaki, HajimeYamashita, Kousuke

Nike, the fourth princess of the Rain Dukedom and one who holds the power to call forth the rain, travels to the Sun Kingdom to marry Sun King Livius for her country, despite her own reluctance. She soon discovers that the King, who conquered the world in only three years after his ascendance to the throne, is still a child! Furthermore, for trivial reasons, he has demanded that Nike call forth the rain…? Could be the best plot of spring season imo. Thinking we’ll see some good character development. Sadly most people saying they passing on this for other shows in the lineup. I’m looking forward to the music used in the series.

Excitement Level: 7/10

Dragon Ball Kai (2014)

Date: April 6th

Studio: Toei (One Piece, Sailor Moon)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy

MAL

Dragon ball is Dragon ball, nice if you haven’t seen it yet.

Excitement Level: 1/10

Haikyuu!!

Date: April 6th

Studio: Production I.G (Blue Seed, Ghost in the Shell, Cage of Eden)

Genre: Sports, Shounen

MAL / PV

Episodes: TBA

Staff: Mitsunaka, SusumuKishimoto, TakuKikuta, Hiromi

A chance event triggered Shouyou Hinata’s love for volleyball. His club had no members, but somehow persevered and finally made it into its very first and final regular match of middle school, where it was steamrolled by Tobio Kageyama, a superstar player known as “King of the Court.” Vowing revenge, Hinata applied to the Karasuno High School volleyball club… only to come face-to-face with his hated rival, Kageyama! This and Baby Steps should be the top 2 sports anime for the season. Baby may be more realistic while Haikyuu covers the shounen side. Not sure if Volleyball can be as exciting compared to Basketball or Tennis but we’ll see together.

Excitement Level: 10/10

Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V

When he was a child, Murakami was infatuated with a girl he called Kuroneko. She insisted on knowing about aliens and having met them, but no one believed her, even young Murakami was skeptical. One day, she decides to show him the aliens, but an accident occurs and Kuroneko dies while Murakami is left seriously wounded in the hospital.
Years go by and Murakami obsesses on finding proof of the existence of aliens because of a promise he had made with Kuroneko. Then, one day, a new transfer student comes to his class, who not only looks a lot like Kuroneko, but is named Kurohaneko!
And even though she insists on never having met Murakami before, the girl has superhuman strength and seems to even be able to predict the future! At first I was thinking this was going to be good drama. After both of the PVs I’m not sure now. That and the script writer is the same one from Hamatora which I didn’t like the layout of the plot in that show. The cast isn’t bad but we going to see the lack of experience in the director and script I fear.

Genre: Mecha, Action, Fantasy

In the continent of Cruzon, an impending war between the Kingdom of Krisna and the nation of Athens is brimming. The people of this land are able to use quartz for whatever purpose they desire. Yet one person, Rygart Arrow, is not. He is an “un-sorcerer,” a person unable to use quartz. But this characteristic will enable him to pilot an ancient Golem, one strong enough to put up a fight against the invading army of Athens. This is a tv version of the movies that were made a while back. We should get a ending with less plot holes compared to the movies. Though I did enjoy the movies a lot.

Hatate Sota is a high school boy, who has an ability to visualize “flags” for future events such as “death flag,” “friendship flag,” and “romance flag.” Despite the flag-viewing ability, he avoids making friends with others due to a trauma he experienced in a ship submergence accident. Four beautiful girls get interested in his strange way of living, and they begin to live with him at the school dorm by force.  The flag idea is the only cool thing about this series to me. If the Harem isn’t to overpowering I’ll stay around.

Ashisu would do anything for the work—she will even let him touch her breast so he will know how it feels like?! The Habit?! The Pervert?! Can we understand them? That’s the comedy of a mangaka life. The only true slide of life in the spring lineup. Its a short too. Could be entertaining, watching the pervert.

A near future, where humans have been defeated by the viral parasites named Gastrea. They have been exiled into a small territory and live in despair, side-by-side in terror.
In this world trapped in darkness—
Rentaro, a boy living near Tokyo and member of the “Civil Security”—an organization specializing in fighting against the Gastrea—is used to accomplishing dangerous tasks. His partner is Enju, a precocious young girl. They fight thanks to their peculiar powers until one day, when they receive a special assignment from the government. This top secret mission is to prevent the destruction of Tokyo… A pure action story and looks good too. Citrus really hasn’t done much since Tokyo 8.0 but that series was good so I know they can make a enjoyable show. Keep a eye on this one.

These two gamers even consider the real world as just another “crappy game.” One day, they are summoned by a boy named “God” to an alternate world. There, God has prohibited war and declared this to be a world where “everything is decided by games”—even national borders. Humanity has been driven back into one remaining city by the other races. Will Sora and Shiro, the good-for-nothing brother and sister, become the “Saviors of Humanity” on this alternate world? “Well, let’s start playing. This is Madhouse’s second show of the season and I like the looks of this one a lot more. Noragami Episode 12- May your wish be heard!

It’s all over! Good ending and sad to see it end. Episode was 90% a fight so I’ll tell the story through the screenshots, lots of good ones this week. 🙂 One of the few season worth watching from the 2014 Winter Season. Look forward to the second OVA which will be out in the coming month once the Spring season starts.

noragami87

God of War shrine not the best looking one. Rabo ready for the fight.

noragami88

Hiyori comes along for the fun even if she doesn’t have her memories. Hope she useful.

noragami89

Not 15 seconds into the fight and Hiyori saving Yato. ugh why is Yato so useless most of the time. Hiyori ftw

noragami90

Boomerang throw to save Hiyori from Rabo! Time to get Hiyori out of here.

noragami91

Rabo destroys the ball holding Hiyori’s memories to try to get the old Yato to come out.

noragami92

Yato gain a coldness to them but not like they were in the past. See below image.

noragami94

Eyes of Yato the god of war from the past.

noragami93

Great fight animations imo.

noragami95

Mid fight Rabo merging with phantoms to get power to kill Yato. Yato can’t believe him would go so low.

noragami96

Hiyori’s body gets caught in the cross fire between Rabo and Yato. Yato leaps to save her before the boulders fall on her!

noragami97

Hiyori is able to get her memories back on her own by following Yato’s smell back to the near shore. Yato is overjoyed to see Hiyori back to normal.

noragami99

Yukine is able to purge the phantoms that merged with Rabo without hurting the nearby Hiyori. Now Yato just needs to finish it in style.

noragami100

Classic animation for finishing a boss. Yato “kills” Rabo who had used a curse to keep his body from decaying. He hunted Yato so he could die at his hands, someone who knew him from the dark past he lived in.

noragami101

Yato tries to say that cutting ties with Hiyori would make her happier than being with him. Of course she doesn’t take a word of it.

noragami102

If you didn’t believe her the first time, now she’s in it for the long road. Just say you like him next time Hiyori 🙂

noragami103

Yato trying to be cool but the scene is too cute to be cool. Now to start wishing for a second season!

noragami104

Everyone throw in 5 yen and we’ll hopefully see a second season in the fall. Been a great ride. Episode rating: 10/10

Nisekoi Episode 11 – Onodera for the win?

First name!

First name!

Raku and Chitoge calling each other by their first names now! Just in time for Chitoge’s birthday. Tsugumi wants to get everyone together for a surprise party for Chitoge, which just happens to be at her house. For every birthday you need presents right? So Ruri gets Onodera and Raku alone to shop together for Chitoge’s gift.

nisekoi53

The episode really skips over the gift picking compared to the manga, its more about Raku not manning up to Onodera as they go shopping. It all ends quickly and Onodera wants to take a detour on the way home after they get the gift. The detour leads to an overview of the city. It’s Onodera’s secret place that she has only shown to the boy from ten years ago. Raku promises not to tell anyone about the place then straight up asks Onodera if she’s the girl he knew from ten years ago! Almost funny by how easy Onodera turns and says yes that she is. Or that she hopes she was the girl and hopes Raku was the boy. Since the boy was her first love that would make Raku the person she loves. Raku loves the idea of Onodera being the girl from ten years ago, they even move to kiss each other but a phone call ends that.

It's a secret, tell noone!

It’s a secret, tell noone!

The group meets up at Chitoge’s house including Shu who wasn’t really invited but is still there. Chitoge meets them at the front gate to the biggest house in Japan by the looks of it, and pulls Raku over to the side to talk with him. She is worried because she hasn’t told Onodera and Ruri about her being the daughter of a gangster. Thinks they will judge her because of it but Raku quickly solves the problem by just coming out and telling everyone that she is like him. Onodera just sees her as a rich girl and that it would make sense that she is dating Raku who is rich too.

I want a house like this.

I want a house like this.

Now for the gift war? Claude as to one up Raku to try to make him look bad in front of Chitoge. Sadly for Claude but Chitoge doesn’t need a car or could even use it for her 16th birthday. Raku gets her a stuff gorilla as the gift and surprising Chitoge secretly loves it. Right when Raku thinks he knows 100% for sure that Onodera is the girl from ten years ago, Chitoge throws a curve ball by asking if he remembers “Zawsze in Love”.

Weeking Ratings- Week 11

Only two more weeks left! Everything should move more than it has in the last three weeks. Even this week had some big movers randomly like Witch Craft Works and Saikin, Imouto. Imouto’s last episode was uploaded a little early so people put in their final score votes into the mix which pushed the shows rating down 700 places.

Noragami only has one episode left and it made into the top 200! Glad it made it, it’s a great show. Sadly no word on a season two yet, but Log Horizon and Space Dandy got the green light for second seasons. Other shows that did well in the rankings this week were Buddy Complex and Hoozuki. Buddy complex just a solid mecha that isn’t doing anything special but its enjoyable.

Surprisingly Chuunibyuo demo and Toaru Hikuushi moving up the in the ranking and not down after a pretty good week. :/ Of course Pupa and Mahou sensou still doing bad.

Noragami Episode 11 The Tale of Hiyori and the Yato God

Noragami83

Last me saw of Hiyori she had just lost her memory because of Nora by what we were thinking. Looks like only Yato was forgotten and not yukine! Episode starts with Yato in a panic since he was forgotten but not Yukine! He really comes off as desperate to get her memories back. Yato tries to get Hiyori to remember him by visiting places they went and met at. Even goes and spends all his 5 yen coins that he had saved up for art supplies so he can make a picture book about them. Yato seems almost love-sick to me in the way he is acting during the episode. Its cute and a little funny.

Noragami84

Why did Hiyori lose her memories? Nora took them from Hiyori because she had changed Yato from the god of calamity he was. Rabo wants a fight with Yato and Nora is helping him as his regalia. Learn that Rabo is also a god of calamity which are gods that answer wicked wishes. Rabo was once human in his past life and carried out the duties of a herald. Heralds are people who sneak into enemy territory to conduct “murder” and other dirty work. Once the herald completed his/her mission they were killed by their master so no information was leaked. After Rabo became a god he would sometimes work with Yato on bigger wicked wishes.

Noragami85

Yukine spends most of the episode with Hiyori trying to get her memory back. Even shows her the picture book that Yato made for her. Sadly she ends up forgetting Yukine to in the end. Yukine asks Yato if they going to do anything about Nora and Hiyori’s memories, at first Yato tells Yukine to forget about Hiyori that it’s for the better. Mostly because of the talk Yato had with Tenjin and he saying that it be better for Hiyori if she forgot Yato. That she would be happier in the end. But once Hiyori forgets Yukine and Nora saying that they could win back her memories by fighting Rabo, Yato decides to fight for her memories. Even if its going to be dangerous for Yukine as he could die fighting Rabo they want to fight for Hiyori together.

Noragami86

Next episode will finish the series and the anime only arc of Rabo. Second season would be nice in the fall for the Bishamon arc and the next that just started in the manga.

Hamatora Episode 11- Lets have a Drink

hamatora44

Strong vs Weak

Showdown between Nice and Moral? Nope, not even close. Nice finds Moral on the roof of the police building and instead of talking there they go back to Hamatora’s bar. Sorry but I don’t see the reason in bringing the mastermind behide everything to your HQ. Moral is in full control of Nice it seems during the episode. Moral has a cup of coffee as he goes over his main plan and why he’s doing it. While Nice quietly listens next to him.

hamatora45

Moral as we know wants to make the world all equal via making everyone a minimum. Empowering the weak in the city of Yokohama by using the brains of innate minimums. Using that “essence” he can make non-innate minimums as we have seen over the course of the series. Nice agrees with Moral that there is nothing wrong with people wanting power. That people shouldn’t discriminate between the haves and have nothing.  I was surprised that Nice says that its okay for the weak to struggle against the powerful. He enjoys watching the weak struggle as they fight to be equals. Though he strongly disagreed with Moral that he the powerful should be able to choose who is weak and strong. Or if he (nice) needed or wanted an equal to himself. When you look at Nice’s closest friends; they have been people weaker than him but struggling to keep up with his power.

Takahiro’s struggle

Meanwhile Takahiro is doing sit-ups with Hajime to burn that fat off him. They stop to rest to see Murasaki fighting the non-innate minimums in the courtyard. He’s pissed off at himself mostly and at how they are acting. Non-innate minimums fighting for equal power and the discriminate toward them. That they are not strong because the truly strong don’t even see the weak around them and can move on. Takahiro is moved by Murasaki’s words and sees that he is still weak after being transformed into purple hulk. Most of Murasaki’s words are directed at Nice and his personal quest to be recognized by him.

hamatora46

Everyone joins the fight at the civil center against the non-innate minimums. Takahiro fights to protect his mother even if we will only ever see him as a monster. Takahiro wins the struggle within himself and saves his mom but Moral sees the sad hulk through the tv and blows up his heart. The scene is pretty graphic for those who don’t like blood for a heads up. Nice finally is mad and we’ll see the final showdown next week!

hamatora47

By the way what the hell is with Hamjie? Did she eat Takahiro at the end of the episode or is she using her power to heal him? Very confused on that.

Episode rating: 7/10

Fantasy Leagues in the house

It’s that time of season! March Madness starts soon and has got a lot of hype with all the free tournaments. Final Four tickets at NCAA.com, Million Dollars at Fox, and the big ONE Billion Dollars bracket through yahoo. I’m filling out brackets even if my chance of winning is much lower that playing the mega-million jackpot.

In other fantasy news, the fantasy anime league has been opened for the spring 2014 season! If you have never played in the FAL you really should, it’s a fun time trying to pick the upcoming poplar animes of the season. You can find the main club site here.  The rules have changed a little from last season in fall 2013, see the changes here. Can also see the following anime are eligible this season in the second post of the rules page. Only two big name animes banned this season: Date A and Fairy Tail. You have till the 30th to get your FAL in order and sent to FALbot.

I’ll be covering the spring preview sometime early next week to get it in before the 30th for anyone to lazy to look-up each upcoming anime. If you can’t wait I’d say check out Caraniel and Enzo‘s posts as they have covered the season earlier than I have.

I look forward to this season of March Madness and FAL Spring 2014 with everyone! 🙂

Nisekoi – Episode 10 Test of Courage

The day after the hot spring Raku is surprised by how Chitoge doesn’t yell at him or get mad since he did see her butt naked. Thoughts quickly turn to the upcoming test of courage that will be held that night. Shu says he’ll help Raku get Onodera number by selling it to him if he draws it. Silly Raku even would buy it for 2k yen. Meanwhile Onodera and Ruri also talking about the test. Ruri letting Onodera know that if she doesn’t make a move on Raku she could in up losing him to a different girl. Onodera tries to talk with Raku but he somewhat pushes her to the side. Because all his thinking about is her butt naked!

nisekoi49

Test of courage pairs start and Raku pulls a lucky 12 to be matched with Onodera. Chitoge and Shu get matched together but Chitoge finds out that one of the ghosts for the event got sick and they need someone to help out. Even though she’s afraid of the dark Chitoge gladly says she’ll help out. Has a flashlight so no worries right? Well ends up the flashlight batteries were dead and she doesn’t find out till she’s all alone in the woods.

nisekoi50

Raku is holding Onodera’s hand when he learns that Chitoge has going herself lost in the woods during the test without a flashlight. Even though he’s with the girl likes, Raku goes running off into the woods to save Chitoge. That is the type of guy he has always been. Chitoge remembers in her past that the boy she loved would always come to save her from danger. Didn’t matter if it was a wild dog or when she fell into a hole, he always showed up just has she was crying. As the knight Raku is, he saves Chitoge and they start on their way back to camp. Chitoge tells Raku that they should start calling each other by first names since they have been “dating” for a while now. They get lost on the way back so they miss the test of courage but I’d say they both showed courage this episode.
